The Mabaw Reef Management Committee (MRMC) was formally created recently at JJ’s Seafood Village, this city. Ms. Wilma Gran, a former barangay councilor of Taloto district was elected as the chairperson of the Mabaw Reef ManCom. The other officers are the following: Vice- chairperson-Nelson Tayag; Secretary- Miniranda Alcantar; and Treasurer- Adolfo Yecyec. The other key officers include Gil Cabalit- Enforcement and Maintenance Team; Mary Jane Ruiz and Jovenal G. Edquilag- Information and Education Team, Flor Manlupig - Resource Monitoring Team; and Ms. Susan Abong and Cecilia Oroc- Financial Sustainability Team. The induction of the MRMC officers was made by City Councilor Doni D. Piquero.
Pursuant to Executive Order No.6 series of 2011 issued by City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, the Mabaw Reef ManCom is tasked to implement rules and regulations and to supervise the day-to-day operations for the protection, maintenance, and preservation of the reef. Moreover, the ManCom shall be in the forefront on implementing social marketing activities as part of the Mabaw Reef Pride Campaign Program. Slated to be formally launched sometime this month, the program is implemented by the city government through the Mabaw Reef TWG in partnership with the Maribojoc Bay Executive Management Office and RARE. |
