The new chief of police of Ubay Police Station P/SInsp Homobuno Sayon led his men in a caravan around the public market area after the showdown inspection of motorcycle helmet at the PNP Station morning of September 26 in implementation of RA 10054. The men and women in uniform who owned a motorcycle submitted for a showdown inspection in connection with the upcoming massive implementation of Republic Act 10054 otherwise known as the Motorcyle Helmet Act in the municipality of Ubay. The inspection was hailed as laudable in the sense that 100% of his men were ready and equipped with the required paraphernalia.
The COP’s notion in the conduct of caravan was simultaneous with the scheduled market day of the town where large amount of constituents are expected to benefit the information. It was further disseminated that motorcycle owners were only given one week to prepare and buy the needed paraphernalia in order to prevent road accident and loss of lives at the same time to prevent penalties impose the moment they will be caught violating the law. Sayon who is new to the town has started to familiarize the people around him uses his charm in attracting attention and letting the people understand he is approachable at all times. He further stressed that the law should be carried out and as law enforcer and an implementing arm of the government by October 3, 2011cops will start apprehending violators in the road exempting no one and imposing the penalties based on the Republic Act.(virgie-mpio desig, ubay)
