Tribu Dagook, representing the municipality of Catigbian, was adjudged as Best in Street dancing and first runner up in the showdown capping the Bohol Sandugo Street Dancing and Showdown Competiton on July 31 at the CPG Sports Complex, this city. “Tribu Dagook”, the strong contingent assembled from the six high school institutions from the municipality of Catigbian proudly presented the best of what the town can offer to fellow Boholanos and to the people around the world through the peculiar Katigbawan steps and the like, chants, sounds. It also revealed the home based processing of raffia fiber which is one of the livelihoods of the community in this year’s Sandugo Festival waving the theme “PRESERVING THE HERITAGE, CONTINUING THE LEGACY OF FRIENDSHIP”… Catigbian endowed with natural beauty of nature and blessed with material resources conscientiously develop, preserve and protect mother earth. Once a less developed town shaken by man-made crisis, it gradually rose and keeps on rising from its stagnation into a green haven for “peace, progress and development”…
Recognizing and acknowledging the blessings from above, the Catigbianons are now enjoying a festivity called – the Katigbawan Festival- a celebration of thanksgiving, a festival of culture and tradition and as a tool for promotions in tourism, ecology, agriculture, folk beliefs and natural environment and it is annually observed by the courageous and good people of Catigbian for the past seven years.Enhancing raw natural beauty of the Dagook Falls and its vicinity into a wholesome adventure experience, is the town’s humble contribution to the booming tourism industry of the beloved province. Last month , the town launched the new tourism industry dubbed as G.R.E.A.T. Catigbian which means Green Recreational Eco-Adventure Tour and officially stationed at Catigbian D.A.T.E. park which stands for Dagook Adventure Tour Experience and viewed as part and parcel of the Abatan River Community Life Tour. It initially offers canopy walk, monkey bridge, mountain slide and river trekking.
Our participation , is therefore our gesture of gratitude to all of the blessings that we received and our way of conveying to the Boholano communities around the world that Catigbian despite its wobbly past, mindfully appreciate the importance of heritage and learned from the past experiences that serve as our inspiration in keeping the seal of excellence. This year, the theme of its Katigbawan Festival ; “Catigbian, Keeping Excellence” has been proven with this year’s participation in Street Dancing and Miss Sandugo competition. It’s the first time that the municipality bagged the Best in Street Dancing and 3 rd time as 2 nd place in the Sandugo Street Dancing Competition and twice to grabbed the Miss Bohol Sandugo and now Miss Mae Ann Napinas Anunciado as the 2 nd runner up in Miss Bohol Sandugo 2011 pageant.
