Three Boholanos have received awards for outstanding performance of their respective field of endeavors while farming achievers did the same during the 157 th Bohol Foundation Day held at the Bohol Cultural Center in this city. Gov. Edgar Chatto and Vice-Gov. Concepcion O. Lim led the provincial officials in handing over to the outstanding Boholanos the awards during the same occasion with the presence of visitors and guests, provincial, municipal and national officials and government agencies. Dr. Cesar Saloma, a Boholano who become chancellor of University of the Philippines-Diliman, Quezon City received the special citation for Boholano achiever for education; Catalino Ordinario for agriculture and Gen. Charlie Holganza for military service during the affair. Ordinario was the recent Gawad Saka National Awardee. Under the Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon 2011 launched by the Provincial Agriculturist Office, the following bagged the awards: Arsenio Alingig, Ubay, as “Most Outstanding Rice Farmer/Hybrid Rice;” Mr. Silverio Miano, Mabini, “Most Outstanding Rice Farmer adopting integrated rice-based system;” Ms. Rosita Litub Quipit, Carmen, “Most Outstanding Corn Farmer adopting corn farming system;” Mr. Vicente Lumianrias, Trinidad, “Most Outstanding High Value Commercial Crop, farmer category;” and Mr. Manuel Evarito Villalon, Loon, “Most Outstanding Fisherfolk.”
Other awardees included Antonio Valentos Omamalin, Carmen, “Most Outstanding Organic Farmer;” Guillermo Aviles, Jagna, “Most Outstanding in Fish Culture;” Ms. Gliceria Ligtas, Alburquerque, “Most Outstanding Small Animal Raiser;” Orlando Rivera, Carmen, “Most Outstanding Coconut Farmer;” Reynaldo Quilicot, Carmen, “Most Outstanding Farm Family;” Cantubod Association for Rehabilitation of Environment (CARE) Danao, Bohol, “Most Outstanding Small Farmer Organization;” and Bonbon Fishermen Association, Mabini, “Most Outstanding Small Fishermen Organization.” At the same time, Chatto received a Plaque of Recognition for Bohol as “Environmental Learning Destination in the Country” from Ms. Becky Paz, deputy chief of party of EcoGov and Ms. Elizabeth May Ybanez, regional coordinator, EcoGov. Sec. Gregory Domingo of the Dept. of Trade and Industry, who was accompanied by Regional Director Aster Caberte graced the event along with Rep. Rene Relampagos (1 st Dist) and other officials. (RVO)
