TALIBION.-- The municipal government here will highlight the month of July with two celebrations – the Nutrition month and the National Disaster Consciousness Month. On top of the twin celebrations, Mayor Restituto Auxtero stressed that his dreams and wishes was to have a healthy and safe community and free from any kinds of disaster in order to have fast development and strong municipality, province and country”. This was the gist of Mayor Auxtero’s privilege message during the meeting of the Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) held at the Nutrition’s Office.. With the theme”Isulong ang Breastfeeding – Tama, Sapat at Eksklusibo”, the Municipal Nutrition Committee prepared simple but fitting activities for the event. Mayor Auxtero presided over the meeting with the council members and successfully ironed out a series of activities for the month-long celebration.

Part of the activities is the display of streamers along the main thoroughfare and at the municipal hall building. Well baby contest at the barangay level will be conducted from July 1-9, and it will be followed by the municipal level with winners in the barangay level on July 20, 2011. July 22 is the Nutri-mix Recipe contest to be participated in by all barangay nutrition scholars. July 25 is the Poster making/Slogan contest with one contestant from all elementary schools both private and public. A fund raising campaign on July 27, is purposely conducted to raise enough funds for the prizes of all contests and for the supplemental feedings for school children. July 29 is the culmination affair and it will be started with a street nutri-parade, awarding of prizes to winners of the different contests and raffle ticket draw.

The parade will be participated in by all local, provincial and national officials and employees, students, pupils and teachers from both private and public elementary and secondary schools. The whole month celebration will highlighted with the Pabasa sa Nutrition, Supplemental Feeding and Health & Nutrition Awareness & Information Campaign. To ensure the smooth and effective the month-long celebration, Mayor Auxtero purposely organized different working committees to effectively monitor and facilitate the celebration. A short program was held at PCPGMPC where the band and lyre corps showdown showcased talents from the Blessed Trinity Elementary School (BTES), San Jose National High School (SJNHS) and Blessed Trinity College (BTC).

Meanwhile the Talibon MDRRMC joins the whole nation in the observance of the month-long National Disaster Consciousness Month with series of simple but fitting arranged activities. The prepared activities are the scheduled earthquake drills to all selected schools not reach by the team last year tasked to conduct the drill. Fire drills are also designed in all new recognized fire volunteer brigades and in all barangays prone to fire hazards. (ONAD MUNALEM)
