Maribojoc SB Inaugurates new building

The legislative department of Maribojoc inaugurated last Friday afternoon their new two-storey Sangguniang Bayan building in barangay Poblacion. The first floor houses the offices of the vice-mayor, the municipal councilors, the SB secretary and staff. The SB session hall occupies the second floor. Vice-Mayor and SB presiding officer Fructuoso F. Redulla, Jr. led the ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Leoncio B. Evasco, Jr., Fer Albaran and lawyer Eddie Busalla. Rev. Fr. Warren M. Abarquez officiated the blessing. During the short program that followed, Councillor Andresa E. Pohl led the singing of hymns while Councilor Engr. Romulo A. Manuta, gave the welcome message. Special guests Fer Albaran and Busalla expressed their excitement every time they come home to Maribojoc as there were always improvements. Vice-Mayor Redulla articulated his gratitude to the executive department for the renovation of the newly procured building. He was particularly grateful to the engineering workforce who did a fine job. Redulla assured the body of more quality local laws and singled out the unity of the executive and legislative branches of government in Maribojoc. Mayor Evasco, likewise, congratulated the SB for their new office.

He took notice of their admirable track record on various local legislative measures and agenda and the importance of the separation of the executive and legislative branches. Evasco narrated the history of the lot where the new SB building now stands. “I was told that this was where the first municipal hall was built, until the structure was consumed in the August 16, 1952 conflagration. After that, a primary school was erected. Years later, the school was demolished when the now-bankrupt Maribojoc Rural Bank owned by Tatong Tan was constructed.” According to Evasco, “Our new SB building is also like a bank because it is here where the dreams of every Maribojocanon will be accumulated and where your duty as legislators come in handy as you have the responsibility of coming up with sound legislations. Punong barangay federated president and SB ex-officio member Marcial S. Quiwag gave the closing remarks. He appreciated the presence of the 22 punong barangays as well as the department heads and heads of offices of the executive branch. Quiwag pledged that he would continue to be an active legislator and punong barangay. Municipal councilor Cecilia P. Autentico was the emcee for the activity.
