Rep. Erico B. Aumentado revealed yesterday that a contract for his assassination with bad elements from Zamboanga Del Norte has been engaged by a cabal out to eliminate him from the 2013 elections. Aumentado made the revelation after knowing that a Zamboanga Del Norte vice mayor called his brother in Bohol to warn the solon on the contract on his head with a big monetary consideration. The threat on Aumentado came on the heels of a repeated broadcast by one Felix Cempron, reportedly a block timer of station DYRD, that Aumentado cannot finish his term. Accordingly, a drug financier is involved in the transaction where the principal brain is a ranking politician in Bohol. It may be recalled that Aumentado survived an ambush by the NPA at the Provincial Capitol premises on February 13, 2004. The solon escaped unharmed with his driver and two security men despite the fact that six bullets hit his Pajero official vehicle. Two bullets pierced through the rear section of the vehicle.
The mastermind of the ambush-Ka Bino Clamucha, a resident of Balilihan and NDF-NPA regional spokesman, died in the encounter with military under then Col. Juanito Gomez, in Bagtic, Catigbian where the NDF held a plenum sometime in March 2004. Several NPAs died and seriously injured during the encounter which led to the promotion of Col. Gomez to the rank of Major General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Since then, the NPAs left Bohol and transferred to Negros Oriental and other provinces for which Bohol was declared insurgency free by the military and police authorities on February 11, 2010 at the rebel returnees Bayanihan center in Remedios, Danao. In another development, two unsolved killings came to the fore in the Second District of Bohol which were believed to be politically motivated.
The first, sources said, was that of Bien Unido mayor Felix Garcia, a board member-elect who failed to take his oath because of his assassination in Talibon. Garcia, who was perceived to be a congressional timber and a nephew in-law of then Governor Aumentado, was believed to have been killed for political reason. The second political killing, was that of one Mario "Mayong" Auxillo, a Humabol leader who had an "ace" against a high ranking public official. Accordingly Auxillo was set to detonate his bomb when he was killed in Bien Unido town. Aumentado said that he trust in the Lord to protect him from evils harm. He said that he is taking precautionary measures in the light of the serious threat on his life.
