Nat’l Nutrition Team evaluates in Tubigon

TUBIGON.- The National Nutrition Evaluating Team set foot in the municipality of Tubigon to conduct a national evaluation on nutrition for five days straight from May 23-27. The municipality of Tubigon was touted to be the representative of Region 7 to the most coveted nutrition highest award. The national evaluating team composed of personnel from the regional and national offices wasted no time after the courtesy call to the mayor. The inspecting team was composed of Dave Bargamento and Dr. Parolita Mission from the Regional Office while on the other hand Clark Apuntar, Ms. Desiree Guevarra, Ms. Sheila Abacan, and Ms. Ma. Cynthia Vengco comprised the national office.

They started their task in barangay Libertad on May 2 then in barangay Macaas in the afternoon. Barangay Bilangbilangan was scheduled on the morning of May 25 followed by Panadtaran in the afternoon. On the third day, it was Panadtaran’s turn in the morning and Pandan in the afternoon. The barangays were grouped into five clusters then an entry barangay for each cluster was selected by drawing lots. The team evaluated the paper works, documents, and data posted in health centers in the respective barangays, weighed the children ages 0-71 months old, and interviewed the mothers of the children as well as the Barangay Health Workers (BHW).

The last day was spent for a feed backing session participated in by the members of the Municipal Health Council, Barangay Chairmen of the evaluated baranggays, the baranngay councilors on health. Last year, Tubigon was awarded the Consistent Regional Winner for Nutrition (CROWN) Award for being excellent and consistent in various implementations in its nutrition programs. The evaluators were impressed on how each of the barangays integrated the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan(BNAP) into their Barangay Development Plan. This evaluation was just the first of the series of three successive evaluations to be done in the following years. After that, if the town can comply with the set ratings of 90%, 95%, and 98% , it will garner the Hall of Famer Award or the Nutrition Highest Award bearing with it a cash prize of P 1-M.
