Mishap triggers 3-car smashup

The miscalculation of the driver of a Hyundai Accent Sedan resulted in a three-car smashup Thursday evening. The incident happened about 10:45 pm last May 26 in front of the Cruztelco office along J.S. Torralba street. According to the entry at the police blotter, the Sedan was driven by one Deane Jeffrey Dejaresco, 23, single, a resident of Remolader Extension, Tagbilaran City and the holder of a non-professional driver’s license. The blotter said Dejaresco was driving the family-owned Hyundai Accent Sedan from Gallares St. There was no mention in the blotter of the owner of the Sedan but the driver is the son of Bohol Chronicle editor and Station DyRD general manager Peter Dejaresco. Upon reaching J.S. Torralba St., he turned right towards the direction of the old city hall but failed to control the vehicle. It slammed into a blue Suzuki multicab van which was parked in front of the Cruztelco office.

The van with plate no. WGA 932 owned by Cruztelco bumped into another parked Multicab pick-up with plate no. WGA 432 which was also parked at the same spot and which is also owned by Cruztelco. It did not end there however. The second van was also pushed by the impact and hit a motorcycle that was also parked in the same area. The motorcycle, a red Yamaha STX 125 bearing plate no. 7I-1314, is owned by Epitacio Hibaya Jr., a Cruztelco security guard and a resident of San Roque, Maribojoc town. The Hyundai Sedan sustained a deformation on its front bumper, hood, front grilled panel and broken headlights. The first van sustained a deformation on its front and rear bumper and its right front panel.  On the other hand, the blotter said the Multicab pick-up incurred dents and scratches on its left side.  The motorcycle meanwhile incurred deformation on its front wheel rim. Fortunately for Dejaresco and his unidentified male companion, there was no report of injuries suffered as a result of the accident.
