MABINI – There's nothing better than this as this coastal municipality became a beehive of activities Monday as participants of the hyper active HEAT Caravan of Gov. Edgar Chatto made the town as the fifth destination in as many locations throughout the province. In grateful appreciation, the Mabini officialdom led by lady Mayor Esther Tabigue and V-Mayor Stephen Rances expressed gratitude to all who are responsible in launching the package of goodies that made up the HEAT Caravan. “All services attendant to the caravan are well-treasured in our hearts,” Tabigue relayed to the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting presided over by the governor. It was her way of delivering the message 30,000-strong constituency who was the target of the HEAT Caravan. The activity was held at the San Roque High School here.
The caravan, a mixture of medical and other services provided by both the local government units and the national agencies, was the fifth in a hit list of five priority areas, namely, Pres. Garcia, Pilar, Hanopol, in Balihan and San Isidro, in that order. Projects and services of the caravan are the following: launching of the Kiddie and Junior Fire Program by Bureau of Fire Department, Bohol Organic Program by Povincial Agriculture Office (PAO), Barangay-based Buffalo Dairy Breeder to San Roque High School and School-based Dairy Enterprise Development Program by Philippine Carabao Center. Other programs included the awarding of Financial Assistance to People's Organizations given by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and financial aid to 4-H Club by PAO and pay-out to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) by Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), release of Governor's Life Insurance; distribution of certificates of Land Ownership Agreement to Agrarian Reform beneficiaries and land titles by Register of Deeds and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and Dept of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); turn-over of the following reading materials to this town, two shallow tube wells by Agricultural Promotion Center (APC), tilapia fingerlings by Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), seaweed planting materials and one unit of desktop computer to this school.
Among the private partners that participated in the caravan include Association of Municipal Health Offices of the Philippines (AMHOP), Biogenic Company, Bohol Federation of Disabled Persons, Bohol Island Lions Club, UNIFEEDS, Philippine-Australian Alumni Association, Philippine Gift of Life, Nutrimart Enterprises, NMYL, National Basketball Training Camp, JCI Boholana Kisses, JCI Philippines Bohol Sandugo Jaycees, IPI Bioderm, Ideal Vision Optical, Dunkin Donuts, Bohol Eye and Ear Center and Bohol Medical Society. National agencies also shared their resources in the caravan. They were TESDA, Social Security System, Registry of Deeds, Regional Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Red Cross, PNP, Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Coconut Authority, Philippine Carabao Center, PhilHealth, National Statistics Office, National Irrigation Administration, Land Transportation Office, BFAR, Bureau of Fire Protection, 2 nd Special forces Battalion, 702 nd Bohol Community Defense Center, 802 nd Infantry Brigade, APC, Departments of Interior/Local Government, Education, Environment/Natural Resources, Labor/Employment, Public Works and Highways, Science and Technology and Trade and Industry and the provincial government offices concerned.
