The 200 or so big bikers have come and gone to participate in yesterday's culmination of the Visayas Confederation of Big Bikers Club Unity Ride in this city but one highlight the participants was proud of was the generous showing of support by its sponsors. A standout among the sponsors was Eric Van Den Arend, a Dutch national, who is known for his undying support of Let's Share TV, a philanthropic arm based on the fact that there are people who want to help and that there are people who need help. Considered a permanent fixture in any big bike activity, the foreigner was responsible in donating school supplies to selected day care centers all over the city. In this latest show of generosity, the Dutch was the benefactor of at least 1,000 school children. Last year, he was also remembered as having donated a substantial amount for the unity ride 2010 edition.
Mr. Den Arend has a soft spot for children knowing his affiliation with Let's Share TV that his beneficence extends nationwide. Mr. Hans Schoof of Peacock Luxury Garden Resort & Spa was another generous sponsor. He donated gallons upon gallons of draft beer. Another major sponsor was Michael Kelly along with Jim Webster, Ted Humphires, Boy Jumamoy, Ricardo Lim, Ruther Protacio, Shutter Happy, Bill Carr, Ko Bing Sum of City Square, Coca-Cola, Unitop, among others. Three foreigners--Den Arend, Kelly and Protacio donated three different colors of T-shirts—yellow, gray and pink for the bikers. According to the Dutch, he chose the color yellow because it symbolized happiness. Special mention also went to City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, a consistent sponsor in every unity ride held in this city.
