A spirited bid by lawyer Salvador Diputado to make history by claiming the presidency of the Integrated Bar of the Phils., Bohol chapter for the second time around was shot down by a newcomer in lawyer Cristifil Baluma., Diputado who is the dean of the College of Law of the BIT International was no match to the Baluma juggernaut who polled a lopsided votes of 111. A son of Regional Trial Court Presiding Judge Teofilo Baluma of Branch I, the young lawyer frustrated Diputado's ambition to clinch another term as president. The BIT dean became IBP president in 2007-2008.
A graduate of the Holy Name University College of Law, the young Baluma towed his own ticket to victory who are mostly HNU graduates. Other officers elected in an election held yesterday at the Bohol Tropics Resort Club were: lawyers Dodelon Sabelon, vice president; Licelle Zamora, secretary; Cirilo Viodor, treasurer; Gervacio Lopena, auditor; Maila L. Maisog, PRO. The board of directors are lawyers Isabelo D. Digaum, Teodoro Lagang, Menelo Thadeus Bernido, Conrado Supremo and Maria Evaneliza Cloma-Lucero. The 2011 IBP Bohol Chapter election was attended by lawyer Roland Inting, president of the IBP Eastern Visayas chapter.
Most of the elected officials from the province did not attend the affair except Board Member Abelleon Damalerio. The election was attended by RTC President Judge Suceso Arcamo of Branch 47 and Executive Judge Fernando Fuentes III. The new set of officers were proclaimed immediately after the canvas by lawyer Romulo Puagang, chairman of the board of canvassers. Outgoing IBP president Mitchel John Boiser thanked all members for participating the elections.
