The Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) experience of Jagna has slowly become known in the island of Bohol as a successful program. Developed and launched during the incumbency of then mayor Exuperio Lloren in 2006, the program was reinforced and supported by the current Mayor Fortunato Abrenilla. Panglao Councilor Noel Hormachuelos headed the Panglao SB and staff visitors given an overview of the program by Mayor Abrenilla. Engr. Peter Jamero provided the lecture on the ISWM starting from its inception, launching until the present status. Engr. Jamero detailed to the visitors the entire mechanism of the program with additions on the problems encountered. With Jagna's experience, Engr. Jamero emphasized the importance of public consultation, public information and education before embarking on the project. The conduct of massive information and education dissemination regarding solid waste management before its launching has eluded problems of misinformation among the citizenry.
After two hours of the presentation, a question and answer portion was provided. The visitors tossed in questions answered by Engr. Jamero and some clarifications were provided by Mayor Abrenilla on some issues. For his part, Hormachuelos thanked Mayor Abrenilla and Engr. Peter Jamero for the information provided and hoped that a partnership of information sharing and exchange of best practices on solid waste management will be forged between Jagna and Panglao. The other Panglao visitors were Councilors Bon III, Hon. Eduard Mejos, Agerio Guioguio and Francisco Montero while the SB staff included Annabel Arcay, Glenda Bon and Edilberta Cloma. Mayor Abrenilla giving an overview on the Integrated while Engr. Peter Jamero giving presentation and the mechanism Solid Waste Management (ISWM) project to Panglao of the ISWM.
