What was billed as a down-the-wire finish between two protagonists in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections Friday turned out to be a dud as both parties agreed to a term-sharing agreement. It could have been a “take no prisoners scenario' for both backers as-- V-Gov. Concepcion Lim and Loay Mayor Rosemarie Lim-Imboy, president of the League of Municipalities, Bohol chapter. For the lady mayor of Loay, she was bent on contesting the SK presidency in favor of his son Jetro Nathaniel Imboy after she was assured of majority of the mayors of their full support to deliver the SK presidents in the towns to the Imboy scion. With a confidence level beyond the reach of her nearest rival, the Loay mayor was ready to tangle with anybody even if were to alienate her Capitol patrons. But Lim appeared to have the last say whoever is the Capitol pick with Gov. Edgar Chatto having no choice but to “second the motion” When the Imboys bet became clear as the runaway winner, backdoor negotiations were in the works as Lim preferred another candidate declaring “anybody but the Imboy son”. As the smoke of battle subsided, it was clear that Lim has a choice of her own in Doxson Asoy, son of the San Isidro vice mayor. Citing as reason the unity of the party, Lim fielded Asoy in her bid not “to rock the vote”.
This explained why it took several days before Chatto and Lim announced their choice only to frustrate the Loay mayor for her son to run for SK federation president in the province. With the heat of the SK elections slowly fading away, the bets' handlers decided the top SK post will be shared between the Imboy son and Asoy in a sharing scheme as to who will sit first as ex-oficio member of the SP representing the youth. The parents of the two contenders arrived at this agreement to prevent a bloody confrontation. Lim's insistence to have her choice be given the crack at the SK helm was premised on the relation of her chief of Staff Filipinas Asoy-Piollo, a cousin of the San Isdiro vice mayor. But Lim-Imboy has another take on Lim's belligerence. Lim lost in Loay during the last election and it was to the contemplation of the Loay Mayor that the vice governor wanted to get back at her.
