DEXCEPT for some incidents of fire-arm confiscation and recovery efforts, the past barangay and Sangguninag Kabataan election was generally peaceful, according to top military official here. Lt. Colonel Romeo Brawner, then Philippine Army spokesperson and now 2 nd Special Forces Batallion Commander said during the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting held at the Governor's and now the People's Mansion November 9, 2010. Brawner, who detailed the establishment of the Bohol Joint Security Council comprised of the local Commission on Elections, the police and the military hinted that the joint efforts may have been effective in curbing criminality and election related offenses.

On the meantime, Bohol PSSUpt. Constantino Barot said that from the period of September 25 until October 23, the joint council and their teams came up with 173 checkpoints and even went on to field female mobile teams in malls and big city shopping establishments to make police presence felt. On his part, Lt. Col Brawner, who spoke for Col. Alan Luga said 669 Philippine Army officers and Men, including paramilitary groups and their encamped men were called to duty during the period. He added that the army was in at least 136 polling places that have been pre-identified as critical areas, secured vital installations in Bohol and organized four quick response teams against any eventuality.

The whole period also, the army has organized at least 18 patrol operations, Brawner said. Police special forces team also did the same thing and one of their teams chanced upon a gun-carrying man in Sitio Talisay, barangay Cagauitan, Dagohoy town on the eve of elections. Police accosted a certain Gerry Oripaypay for possession of a magnum .357 caliber pistol, which he allegedly tossed when he realized the police elements were on him.
