TUBIGON — The Tubigon Police Office filed on July 11, an information for attempted rape and rape in relation to R.A 7610 against one Augusto Vedra a.k.a (Liklik) before the Regional Trial Court in Tagbilaran City. The case steamed from a formal complaint of a certain Arlene (not her real name), a 16 year old girl who lodged the complaint before the Tubigon Police Office. The complainant, accompanied by her mother, reported to the police that on or about ten o' clock in the morning of July 11, 2010, she was awakened from sleep by the arrival of the suspect at her house who wanted to collect her salary from her mother for services rendered as a porter at the Tubigon port. But her mother was not in the house at that time since she had gone to her grandmother.

The victim narrated that she went back to sleep, thinking that the suspect would just wait for the return of her mother. But hardly had she lain in bed when the suspect was already on top of her and kissed her checks and fondled her breast. She struggled to free her self and called for help from her younger sister who was outside the house. Her younger sister ran for help. The suspect stood up and fled the area. The other case involving consummated rape took place last week of December, 2009 at the Tubigon port.

The victim alleged that she was with her father at around six o' clock in the evening at the Tubigon port. The suspect was also at the same area at that time. While her father was inside one of the vessels at the port, the suspect allegedly grabbed her and brought her to a dark and secluded area of the port. There, he offered the victim a sum of money and urged her to have sexual intercourse with him, but she resisted. Then the suspect allegedly threatened to kill her so that she gave in to the demand of the suspect for fear of being killed. The suspect succeeded in his lustful attack upon the victim. (MPIO)
