OceanJet earns flak for poor service to tourists

TAGBILARAN CITY – Tourism industry in Bohol could be adversely affected if services for tourists left unattended or inconvenience prevails in travel sector. Passengers bound for Bohol last week have criticized the very poor service of the Ocean Jet 3 fast craft plying Bohol Cebu route. Dr. Felino Clumnas, who was one of the passengers, expressed disgust because of the inconvenience it has caused to the passengers. It did not follow the schedule it sets up for its departure. He said that it was supposed to leave Cebu port at 6:30 PM but instead it departed at past 8 PM. The management did not even bother to inform the passengers.

If only the management informed them of the late time departure, the passengers could have been prepare for something to eat beforehand. There was poor ventilation because of the absence of air-conditioning that bogged down and the doors were locked up while the craft was running.  The passengers seemed to be suffocated that resulted to some of the passenger-students to faint, Columnas said. He said he tried to contact friends for the ambulance unit be ready as soon as Ocean Jet docked at the port in case those fainted be given immediate treatment. Columnas lamented for ignoring passengers' request for the ship captain Jacinto Tagod to attend to their inconvenience. But nobody they can talk to as the crew also attempt to evade them, he said. This was not the first time that the fast craft received condemnation. For many trips already in recent days, Ocean Jet did not bother to improve their services. Efforts to get the side of OceanJet failed as nobody from its office dared to respond for interview. (RVO)
