THE Development Bank of the Philippines in partnership with LGU-Ubay will launch its forest project in Bohol at Barangay Calanggaman, Ubay on June 18. The project involves a 100-hectare property owned by DA and under the management of LGU-Ubay. This site will be planted with fruit and forest trees, and will support the reforestation of the Caruod Watershed, main water source of Ubay's water utility company, the Uwasco.
The bank will provide financial assistance for the purchase of planting stocks and project maintenance while the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Department of Agriculture will render technical assistance. The new project is in addition to 33 other DBP Forest projects nationwide. Opportunities for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) shall likewise be explored for this project. Senior officers of DBP, regional directors of DENR and DA and some key personalities of the provincial government together with Mayor Eutiquio Bernales are expected during the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the new DBP Forest in Ubay on June 18.
