Bohol eyes 6 more bridges

BOHOL intends to build more bridges for easier and more convenient access of people and goods among communities. The Provincial Development Council chaired by Gov. Erico Aumentado endorsed six bridges costing a total of P134 million for funding under the Tulay ng Pangulo para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo (TPKPA) program. On the recommendation of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Provincial Director Antonio del Socorro, Aumentado steered the PDC into endorsing six bridges to the Regional Development Council (RDC) for inclusion in the TPKPA, a bridging project for agrarian reform communities (ARCs),

In the list are the 10-meter Progreso-Cambaol Bridge in ARC Del Untaga Procoyacap in barangay Cambaol of Alicia town costing P10 million; the 16-meter Capayas-Camanaga Bridge in Smart ARC in barangay Capayas of San Miguel town costing P16 million, and in Danao town, the 42-meter Matul-id Bridge costing P42 million and the 22-meter Casilion Bridge costing P22 million, both in ARC Magtacaca in barangay Dagohoy; the 20-meter Camarin Bridge costing P20 million in ARC Magtacaca in barangay San Carlos; and the 24-meter Hibunawan Bridge costing P24 million in ARC Hibale in Poblacion.

Aumentado said the bridge projects form part of the “10 in 2010” Development Agenda of Bohol, particularly on “improving the delivery and access of basic services for the poor and in enhancing economic opportunities in rural areas”.     Under the program, the structures will be pre-fabricated modular bridges, to include the rehabilitation of existing bridges in priority ARC sites. “The bridges will link various ARCs to the economic mainstream and open up development potentials in line with the President's 10-point agenda of job creation and decentralized development,” Del Socorro had said in his recommnedation. DAR is tasked to ensure the delivery of essential support services to farm productivity, income and the quality of life of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in the ARCs.
