Bohol Provincial Police Office Provincial Director, Popilice Senior Supt Anthony Lao Obenza recently issued a manhunt operation for the immediate arrest on members of a notorious robbery suspects and escapees who managed to resist arrest and evade police authorities after robbing a couple in Barangay La Hacienda, Alicia, Bohol. The manhunt order came in the wake the recent robbery incidents in the different parts of the city and province believed to be perpetrated by these suspects and their allies. The PNP elements of Alicia Police Station under PCInsp Uldarico Jumang-it Palgan, chief of police, received a telephone call from a concerned citizen informing them that on March 22 at Brgy La Hacienda, Alicia, Bohol, four unidentified robbers armed with handguns entered the store of Mr & Mrs Expedito Madariñan y Galorio of the same barangay and announced the hold up, As the robbery was in progress, the suspects did not notice that a member of the household managed to slip away and reported to the barangay tanods who were on duty, and who in turn called up the Municipal Tactical Operation Center of Alicia Police Station. Police on duty who received the report advised the tanods that a police responding team was coming and further advised them to call up POI Renante Lumbay Nalaza who is residing near the area to assist them in the incident.
After receiving the police advise, the barangay tanods cautiously reported the incident to POI Renante Nalaza who in return responded to the scene accompanied by the barangay tanods. As they were approaching the victim's residence, the suspects detected their presence and a result fired their weapons. The first vo9lley of gunburst graced the back of POI Nalaza who at that time managed to maneuver at the road shoulder and returned fire to the suspects and hitting fatally one of the robbers identified later as one Stephen Benedict Galve @ Junjun of Brgy Matin-ao, Sierra Bullones, Bohol , prompting the other suspects to fled away from the scene. With the timely arrival of the Alicia Police responding team, the police confiscated from the possession and control of the wounded robbery suspect one Caliber .38 Armscor (Paltik) Revolver with no serial number and two (2) live ammos and ntwo (2) empty shells. The victim who resisted the robbery suspects was also shot at his face because he struggled with the suspects and was rushed immediately to the Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital in Tagbilaran City for immediate medical treatment. The robbery suspect who was wounded in the shootout was also rushed to the Candijay Medicare Hospital . He was pronounced dead on arrival.
