2 robbers nabbed in Carmen; Clarin market trader held up

Two robbery suspects were arrested in Carmen town after they held up a female collector of a lending company last week. The suspects were identified as Lino Maritan, 22, and a 17-year-old minor boy, both residents of Barangay La Libertad, Carmen. Police identified their victim as one Rosa Villa Pabique, 26, single and a native of Banilad, Mandaue City. Pabique works as a collector of Card Inc. which is based in Poblacion Sur, Carmen. The victim narrated that she was riding a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) which she hired after a meeting past 12 noon last Monday.   On her way to her office, the two suspects suddenly emerged from the forested area and in Barangay Nueva Vida Norte.  The suspects aimed their guns at her and declared a hold-up. She said the suspects grabbed her bag containing cash amounting to P10,600 representing collections she made that morning. A barangay tanod, however, promptly reported the hold-up to the Carmen police station which immediately launched a hot pursuit operation led by SPO2 Delio Elumbaring which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects. The reports said the two were positively identified by a Department of Education coordinator who witnessed the crime.

Meanwhile, four men pretending to be customers held up a store inside the public market in Poblacion Centro, Clarin town. The victim was identified as one Elpidia Revilla, 51, married, a businesswoman who owns Tano Store. She narrated that the incident took place about 2 pm last Tuesday. The four suspects arrived in two motorcycles that had no plates.  Three of the suspects alighted from the motorcycles and entered the store pretending to buy four realms of cigarettes. Two of them, however, suddenly pulled out their handguns and declared a hold-up.  They aimed their guns at the cashier identified as Edwin Revilla, 30, married and a son of the victim. One of the suspects approached the drawer and confiscated the cash amounting to P20,000. After the incident, the suspects hurriedly fled aboard the two motorcycles northward in the direction of Inabanga town. Elements from the Clarin PNP attempted to give chase but the suspects eluded arrest. The suspects were described to be in their 30s, all wearing jackets and caps.
