Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa is 70 yrs. old

JAGNA.-The Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa (CMM), a private school in this town, celebrated its 70 years foundation through a grand alumni homecoming dubbed as Sietenta Medalla on December 27-29. The three-day celebration started with a registration, distribution of tee shirts and kits along with picture taking and memorabilia sightseeing in the school premises on the first day. The second day was opened with a Holy Mass officiated by its alumni priests. A grand parade around the major streets in Jagna immediately followed participated in by close to 2,000 alumni, former teachers, former school administrators and visitors. The highest ranking of the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect (A.R.) Sisters Mother Ma. Maxima Pelaez, A.R. together with some of her general councilors and sisters who served CMM as its school administrators in previous years graced the occasion. Mayor Exuperio Lloren, an alumnus of its phase-out elementary department, gave his heartwarming message to his fellow alumni. CMM Alumni President lawyer Fortunato Abrenilla likewise gave his message of support to the event while former School Superior cum Principal now elected Vicar General of the A.R. Congregation Sor Alejandra Bendoval, A.R. inspired the alumni particularly her former students whom she said she missed.

“You want me to deliver an inspirational message which I found it hard to say it now because I am sure you would not be inspired recollecting memories when I was your “strict” school principal for nine years in the 1980's,” said Sor Alejandra to the mirth of everyone. “But don't you know that it is I who is inspired instead seeing you now with all your achievements and success in life. I thank you for responding to the call to be present today and this I believe is a great sign of your gratitude to your Alma Mater,” she said. The clinching part of the 2nd day's activity was the giving of certificates of recognition to the former faculty members of CMM in the following evening. The most awaited raffle draw with big prizes at stake closed the 3rd day's activity. The major prizes would include the three Honda motorcycles and the consolation prizes such as cellular phones, rice cookers, television set and other minor prizes. In the election of the new set of CMM alumni association officers, Abrenilla was re-elected with Tita Gallentes as the vice president.
