A trader was hurt after he was shot Wednesday morning by three men in a hold-up attempt at his home. The victim was identified as one Josevirre Rulida, 38, married and a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Babag, Dagohoy. Initial reports revealed that the victim and his wife were outside their home about 6 am last Dec. 16 when they noticed three men entering their home. The suspects covered their faces with t-shirts obviously to hide their identities from witnesses. After entering through the rear portion of the house, the suspects came upon the victim's son who was having breakfast. One of the suspects aimed his gun on the boy's head while the hold-up was in progress.
The victim was able to grab the gun of one of the suspects and fired but another suspect fired back. Rulida, who was hit by a bullet, fell while the suspects hurriedly escaped on a black Honda XRM motorcycle with no plate no. The motorcycle fled in the direction of San Miguel town. Rulida was initially brought to a hospital in San Miguel but was moved to a private hospital in Tagbilaran. He was described to be in guarded condition. Responding policemen from the Dagohoy police station recovered an empty shell of a .9 mm pistol. Investigators are still trying to determine the identities of the suspects while conducting follow-up investigation.
