BOHOL Gov. Erico Aumentado Friday led local officials in inaugurating P25 million worth of infrastructure projects in the interior town of Sevilla , 32 kilometers northeast of the capital, Tagbilaran City. The inauguration coincided with the Vesper Day of the town's fiesta in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The projects include the P15-million Sevilla Bogwak Waterworks System that has brought water fo Poblacion and later on, the other 12 barangays via a 12-km. pipeline from the source – the Bogwak Spring in Barangay Magsaysay; the P4.375-million Sevilla Multi-Purpose Center and the P5.08-million asphalt overlay on the Sevilla Circumferential Road. Using his signature convergence strategy, Aumentado solicited for the waterworks project P1 million from Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri and P2.5 million from the national government's Poverty Alleviation Fund under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through Rep. Adam Relson Jala of the 3rd District and his immediate predecessor – his father Eladio.
The local government unit of Sevilla under Mayor Ceferino Digal and the barangays put in P1.7 million while the provincial government put up the balance. On the other hand, Zubiri also contributed P1.2 million for the multi-purpose center, as well as Senators Manuel Villar and Ramon Magsaysay Jr., P500,000 each. The provincial government put up the balance through an allocation approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan under Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, The Herrera-led lawmaking body also approved P5.08 million for the asphalt overlay of the road that is also the route of the procession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Although already concreted, the road has deteriorated in several places, hence, the asphalt overlay. The multipurpose center was built by contractors Ricomar Construction, Maghuyop Construction and I.S. Easy Construction, implemented by the Provincial Engineer's Office (PEO) under Provincial Engr. Edwin Vallejos. For the waterworks, aside from the PEO, the Municipal Engineer's Office under Engr. Alma Ganas also contributed much in the procurement of the pipes, the excavation and laying out of the same. Aumentado has a soft spot in his heart for Sevilla – it being the hometown of his wife, Peregrina or “Grenie.”
