A still unidentified suspect left no mercy for a grandmother in Sagbayan town when he mauled her with no regard for her age and condition. The victim was identified as one Isabel Bartel, 76, a resident of Barangay San Ramon, Sagbayan. Bartel sustained bruises and cuts on her face, mouth and head after a lone suspect mauled her about 7:30 pm last Dec. 6. The victim was on her way to the comfort room when the suspect suddenly pounced on her. The victim was naked on the waist up and covered his face with his shirt. Police investigators learned that the suspect threatened the victim with a bolo and shoved her to the floor. The suspect demanded money from the victim and when she refused, punched her repeatedly in different parts of her body until she passed out.
While she was unconscious, the suspect searched her belongings and took away two Nokia cellphones, ATM card and cash amounting to P2,500. The suspect immediately fled after the incident. Bartel was subsequently brought to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, policemen continued their operations against illegal gambling when they raided a suspected gambling operation personality in Jagna town. The suspect was identified as one Christopher Acasio, of legal age and a resident of Barangay Canjulao, Jagna town. Chief Insp. Germano Mallari, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Bohol chief, led the raiding team. The raid, carried out last Dec. 8, was made by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Dionisio Calibo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 50 in Loay town. Recovered during the raid were various gambling paraphernalia and cash worth P2,500. The suspect was placed under the custody of CIDG Bohol in Camp Dagohoy pending the filing of appropriate charges. |
