Jagna calamay industry sets 10-year economic direction

Based on the value chain approach, members of the Jagna Calamay Makers and Vendors Association (JACAMAVEA) set sustainability direction for the next five to ten years during the recent strategic planning workshop facilitated by STEP UP Consulting Services. The planning workshop of JACAMAVEA had the support of national and provincial agencies in the effort to sustain the century-old industry as a micro-enterprise. With the initial financial assistance from the provincial government Jagna's original calamay industry now positions for grander plans.

STEP UP Consulting Services Managing Consultant Michael Cañares facilitated the two-day activity. Mayor Exuperio Lloren personally commended the JACAMAVEA and the various partners of the calamay industry for their undying commitment in several activities which have been conducted at different levels. Great Women Project (GWP) Manager Ma. Luzviminda Villanueva, who personally came over from Manila , to observe the direction-setting also congratulated the participants. Committed partners who participated in the activity included the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Ma. Elena Arbon, Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) president Marietta Gasatan, BCCI Project Assistant Yoradyl Israel, Local Area Coordinator of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) Estrella Espinosa, DOLE's Gerry Guidaben, and Celerina Galorio of APC- Bohol.
