4 mayoralty bets uncontested; rest of Bohol towns free-for-all

 

Three incumbent mayors and a vice mayor seeking the top elective post of the town are running uncontested in the 2010 elections. The four is headed by Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas, president of the League of Municipalities, Bohol chapter, and whose congressional bid was frustrated when an outsider came out of the blue to take his place in the ruling party Lakas-Kampi CMD. Mayor Salinas is a loyal party member. Salinas , however, remains a Lakas stalwart in seeking his last term as Catigbian mayor despite what happened to his congressional ambition. The other two mayors unchallenged in their reelection are Mayors Louis Tomas Gonzaga of Danao and Mara Fe Piezas of Guindulman. V-Mayor Dominicio Chatto of Balilihan is running for mayor and nobody dares to contest his candidacy.

The towns and their corresponding reelectionists and their respective rivals in a free-for-all political exercise in 2010 in all of Bohol 's three districts are the following: (First district) Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy-Nacionalista Party vs Benecio Uy of Lakas-Kampi CMD; Dauis V-Mayor Jimmy Jimenez, Nacionalista Party vs Victorio Migrino-Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino; Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala-Lakas-Kampi CMD vs V-Mayor Pedro Fuertes-Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) and Nila Montero-Nacionalista Party; Corella Vice Mayor Efipanio Bolando, Lakas-Kampi CMD vs Nicanor Tocmo, Nacionalista Party; Sikatuna Ireneo Calimpusan-Lakas-Kampi CMD vs Jose Ellorimo-NP; Antequera Jose Mario Pahang—Lakas-Kampi CMD vs Samuel Rebosura-Independent; Loon Mayor Lyod Lopez-PDP vs Wilfredo Caresosa-NP; Alburquerque Mayor Cirilo Jalad-LP vs Rene Buates-NP and Efren Tungol-Lakas-Kampi CMD; Calape Mayor Simplicio Yu, Jr. vs Gerry Quadrasal-NP; Cortes Mayor Jasmine Balistoy-Lakas-Kampi CMD vs V-Mayor Rudy Uy; Tubigon Mayor Luna Piezas-Lakas-Kampi CMD vs William Jao-NP; Tagbilaran City Dan Neri Lim-NPC vs Jose Antonio Veloso-Lakas-Kampi CMD; and Maribojoc Leoncio Evasco, Jr.-NPC vs Jose Veloso, Lakas-Kampi CMD.

In the second district Dagohoy Mayor Herminio Relampagos of Lakas-Kampi CMD is running against Anania David also a Lakas while in Inabanga Jono jumamoy of Lakas is seeking reelection against Geronimo Mejias. In Getafe contesting the mayoralty are relatives. V-Mayor Cary Camacho is running against his aunt Board Member Maria Fe Camacho Lejos. A third force, Manuel Monillas, is also running for mayor. In Trinidad Cong. Roberto Cajes is taking the place of his wife Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes who is gunning for second district congressman. The incumbent congressman for Trinidad mayor is pitted against Florencio Flores, Jr. In CPG, the contest is between reelectionist Mayor Tesalonica Boyboy of Lakas against Casiano Oldigado, Independent and Leoncio Rosales, LP while in San Isidro reelectionist Apolinar Gumanid, Jr. of Lakas is seeking another term while his opponent is Jacinto Naraga of NP.

In Clarin incumbent V-Mayor Rey Allen Piezas of Lakas is seeking the mayoralty against former mayor Trifon Sanchez, NP. Another bet is also throwing her hat into the Clarin mayoralty ring. She is Maria Judith Simbajon of LP. In Talibon, the incumbent Mayor Juanario Item is pitted against his V-Mayor Restituto Auxtero. Seeing action in Ubay is reelectionist Mayor Eutiquio Bernales who is ranged against V-Mayor Galicano Atup and newcomer Board Member Amalia Tirol. The third district also sees exciting mayoralty matches. In Batuan reelectionist Mayor Gregoria Pepito will slug it out against former mayor Necitas Dumagan, Jr., Gaudencio Gamayot and Rolando Leyson. In Bilar the contest is between V-Mayor Norman Palacio of NP against Board Member Corazon Esther Galbraith of Lakas. In Candijay the fight is between reelectionist Sergio Amora, Jr. of Lakas against Tryve Olaivar while in Carmen it will be between reelectionist Mayor Manuel Molina of NP against Conchita de los Reyes.

In Dimiao, Mayor Slyvia Adame of Lakas is running for reelection against Jaime Balbon. In Duero , Jaime Betonio is pitted against Cornelius Okay while in Alicia is a showdown between reelectionist Pedro Miasco against Mamilou Ayuban. In Anda, the mayoralty is a three-way race. The protagonists are Angelina Simacio, Domenciano Deligero and Reinerio Makinano. In Mabini, V-Mayor Esther Tabigue is pitted against Edna Bagabaldo, Sancho Bernales and Councilor Jesha Cuyacot. In Pilar, the mayoralty is contested between reelectionist Mayor Wilson Pajo while his opponent is Necitas Cubrado. In Sevilla, the wife of incumbent Mayor Ceferino Digal, Amesita, is running for mayor. She is contested by V-Mayor Carlito Fernandez. In S-Bullones, V-Mayor Alfredo Gamalo is running for mayor while his opponent is Rainfredo Buslon while in Valencia reelectionist Hemrietta Gan is pitted against Leodegario Olegario. In G-Hernandez, the fight is between Councilor Tita Galentes against Miguelito Galendez. In Lila newcomer Regina Salazar is running for mayor against Alex Paigan. In Loay, reelectionist Mayor May Lim-Imboy is challenged by Magileo Flores while Loboc is a fight between reelectionist Mayor Leon Calipusan and Petronilo Sarigumba. The Jagna mayoralty fight is a two-way race. The contestants are lawyer Bicbic Abrenilla of Lakas and Joseph Ranola of LP.
