TRINIDAD -This town is among the two lucky additions to host municipal fire stations of the Bureau of Fire Protection. By the end of this year, Bohol will have a total of 17 city and municipal fire stations and four sub-stations with the activation of fire stations in this municipality, in Dimiao and Panglao, according to Provincial Fire Marshal Pepe Rebusa. During the formal turn-over ceremony held recently at the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal in Tagbilaran City, attended by DILG Provincial Director Rustica Mascariñas, representatives of BFP Regional Director, F/SSUPT Aloveel Ferrer and Governor Erico Aumentado, the LGUs of Dimiao, Trinidad and Panglao.

These towns are recipients of new 1,000-gallon Isuzu firetrucks coming from the BFP under the DILG. The strong request of its Local Chief Executives paved the establishment of new fire station in said municipalities. Mayors Sylvia Adame of Dimiao, Judith del Rosario-Cajes of Trinidad and Benedicto Alcala of Panglao expressed gratitude to BFP and DILG for granting their requests of a firetrucks for the welfare and benefit of their respective constituents. Provincial Fire Marshal Rebusa, for his part, welcomes the development even though it requires manpower complement for the new firetrucks amid the manpower problem of BFP-Bohol at present. On this, Rebusa encourages every LGU to organize fire volunteers to address the manpower problem that they all share.

The volunteers shall be trained on the same discipline that BFP firefighters undergo, as provided in RA 9514 to assist and augment the BFP workforce during firefighting operations. Rebusa, reminds the public to be more conscious, be safety-conscious in handling firecrackers and pyrotechnics this yuletide season. Clearance from BFP should be secured first before any display or sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics or for any conduct of fireworks exhibition. (contributed by F01 Juvy Lea J. Danila)
