2 killed in violent incidents in Tubigon, Sagbayan

Two people were killed in separate violent incidents in the towns of Tubigon and Sagbayan. The first incident was reported in Tubigon when a disagreement over wages prompted a carpenter to hack his fellow carpenter. Police records identified the victim as one Carlos Jubahib, 48, married and a resident of Barangay Tan-awan, Tubigon town. The incident took place Monday evening in the said barangay. Investigators identified the suspect as one Gaudencio Ceballos Jr. alias Jun, 44, single and a resident of the same place.

SPO3 Fernando Penoramas, Tubigon PNP investigator, said the suspect who was under the influence of liquor asked for his share in the proceeds of the lumber that they were cutting. The victim, who was also under the influence of liquor, refused the demand saying that the suspect was living in his house. This irked Ceballos who silently took a 16-inch bolo and hacked Jubahib without notice. The victim sustained injuries on his face and eventually succumbed. Ceballos voluntarily turned himself in to barangay captain Teodulo Olais who in turned surrendered him to the Tubigon police. A case for murder has been filed against the suspect before the prosecutor's office.

Meanwhile, a native of Inabanga town went to Sagbayan hoping to take part in the fiesta. Instead, he turned up dead with his head nearly separate from his neck.  The victim was identified as one Ceferino Años, 29, single and a resident of Sitio Kangitngit, Barangay Riverside, Inabanga. PO2 Hermes Sanchez, Sagbayan police investigator, said the victim's lifeless body was found about 5:30 am last Nov. 18 near the barangay road in Ubujan, Sagbayan. Años' body bore signs of mauling although investigators suspect that he was killed elsewhere since there were no signs of struggle in the place where he was dumped. The victim went to Ubujan with his friends hoping to take part in the celebration last Tuesday. Sanchez said investigators are pursuing leads on the identities of the suspect but refused to give additional details while the investigation is going on. The victim's parents claimed the body of their son at the funeral parlor in Sagbayan.
