Panglao this years Sinuog Estokada champ

 

The Municipality of Panglao contingent is this year's winner in Jagna's annual Sinuog Estokada festival, both in the Street Dancing and Actual Portrayal categories at the Tejero Plaza on September 29. Aside from the two major awards, said champion contingent also romped away the Best in Production Design and Best “San Miguel” awards. Tribu Carmelianon of Carmel Academy of Balilihan, Bohol was adjudged second prize winner. The said group likewise won the Best Field Performance and Liveliest awards. Municipal employees comprising the Tribu Magbubuhat sa Lungsod sa Dimiao won the third prize while the other contingent from Panglao town, the Tribu Muro Ami received a consolation prize and the Best in Costume award. Touted as Jagna's major daytime cultural fiesta highlight, the Sinuog “Estokada” now on its 8th is a war dance depicting the celestial fight between “good and evil” lifted from the Scriptural teachings as written in the Book of Revelations 12:7-11.

The Street dancing showdown started at the historic Jagna kiosk in front of the new public market as the dancers gyrated to the synchronized music aired live at DYJP 100.1 FM, Jagna Community Radio. The street dancing parade culminated at the Tejero Plaza for the actual portrayal category. The winners received the coveted first prize of P100,000. Second prize was P80,000 while the third prize P60,000 and the consolation prize of P30,000. All Special awards was worth P10,000.00 each. The distinguished board of judges was composed of Renezar Ferrolino, Thea Ruelo, Jojo Cliff Echaves, Reynaldo Villas and Antioco Lloren.
