Pinky Aquino to grace MoVE Noynoy launch

Aurora Corazon “Pinky” Aquino-Abellada will be arriving here on Sept. 21 to grace the formal launching of the Mobilization of Volunteers to Elect Noynoy Aquino (MoVE) for President Movement. The second daughter of the late Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. and President Corazon Aquino is expected to drum up support for the candidacy of her only brother, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who will be the standard-bearer of the Liberal Party in next year's presidential elections.        Engineer Vicente Loquellano, MoVE Noynoy lead convenor, said the movement which is primarily composed of NGO groups hopes to mobilize a multi-sectoral show of force for the young Aquino's candidacy in Bohol. “Based on the response of the people so far, we believe that a critical mass would be working actively for Noynoy in the province,” Loquellano added.

He said that while political figures are expected to gravitate to Aquino in the next few weeks, MoVE Noynoy will go about its task of organizing non-political individuals and groups who share the same objectives. “We are moving in the direction of a parallel organization with political groups who will actively campaign for Noynoy,” Loquellano added. He sees no problem with this because MoVE Noynoy will be running the “non-traditional campaign” that Aquino has in mind. “We will leave politics to the politicians but we are not going to sit on the sidelines and do nothing in the campaign of the best candidate for the people in 2010,” Loquellano added. On Monday, which is also the 32nd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, MoVE Noynoy has lined up activities to launch various activities for the campaign. Pinky Aquino is expected to give a message at JJs Seafoods Village where the manifesto of commitment of MoVE Noynoy which will also include a press conference. This will be followed by a motorcade around the main streets. The assembly area is Plaza Rizal at 1 pm. The launching of the “Piso for Noynoy” fund-raising drive will be held after the motorcade also at Jj's Seafoods.
