LAMP-2 distributes land titles in Jagna

By: Gregorio A. Tavera

A remarkably fine job for the newly-created Systematic Adjudication Field Office (SAFO)-2 here, the total of 131 land titles recently distributed to lot owners on August 28 at Jagna gymnasium already posted a considerable slash in the inventory of 9,000 untitled lots in the town. The ceremonies were ushered in by a blessing of the SAFO at barangay Can-upao, followed by a motorcade from the office to the coastal barangays of Can-uba to Naatang and down to the gymnasium where a short program was held. Vice-Mayor Teofisto Pagar Sr. welcomed all the guests and beneficiaries of the project.

PENRO and Forester Nestor Canda extolled the efforts of the LGU-Jagna for its keen interest on administration and management process. “Now comes the day of the fulfillment of your dreams that we have distributed the peoples' land titles. This commendable job of the LGU and LAMP helped lessen the 9,000 lots in Jagna which remained untitled,” Canda said. Mayor Exuperio Lloren, for his part, emphasized the importance of the document as assurance of land tenure of the recipients.

“In my initial term of office, I first looked into the profile of the land ownership situation of the townspeople based on the comprehensive Municipal Development Plan (MDP). From there, we in the LGU have strived hard that this situation be improved. Thanks to the support of the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice-Mayor Pagar and to Governor Erico Aumentado that this town be in the priority list of LAMP, hence SAFO is now here,” Mayor Lloren said. Vice Governor Julius Caesar Herrera, in his message, praised the advocacy of the town executive on land security of the people. “With the land you have now legally owned, you must not only take good care of it but make use of it by planting something productive to help alleviate the food sustainability of your family. By so doing we are also greening our environment and likewise making Bohol green”, Vice Governor Herrera said.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Tomas Abapo who represented the governor explained in his message the difference between land owner and a land possessor as he congratulated the new land owners of Jagna. Aside from the distribution of the land titles, the activity was also highlighted by the signing of the Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) between the Local Government Unit of Jagna and LAMP-2 of the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It can be recalled that the opening of the LAMP 2, SAFO was also opened with Engr. Eleonore Samson as Systematic Adjudicator (SA) team leader. This was the start of the preliminary activities. With a time frame of 45-60 days to facilitate the pertinent papers, the SAFO was able to release approved land titles for the land owners of barangas Can-uba, Ipil, Nausok, Naatang and Tubod Mar.
