After EAT Danao, the municipality of Pilar eyes an adventure park to capitalize on the ambience of its manmade lake. Pilar Mayor Wilson Pajo told local media in an interview on July 14 about his plan to set the construction of a new adventure ride in his town's manmade lake, following the efforts of his friend,Danao Mayor Thomas Louis Gonzaga in setting up the Extreme Adventure Tour (EAT) Danao. Pajo said Gonzaga once told him that Pilar can include similar adventure activities found in Danao. Pajo had a chance to interact with some members of the local media during the medical mission of AHAPI Inc. in Pilar.
A 500-meter long T-Bar cable adventure ride will be the newest attraction to be added to the manmade lake in Pilar, according to Pajo. He said the project costs P4.2 million and the contractor is Cebu-based JPM Constructions. The rider will be sitting on a round disc-shaped seat with a pole attached to cable and the ride. Its construction starts in the next couple of weeks, once the tower on the banks of the man-made lake will be done. Pajo said the rider will also be wearing a water life vest, in case he falls off the ride, he goes straight into the lake unharmed. The passenger will end his destination on an island in the middle of the lake known as Noah's Ark.
The mayor will make the island bigger by dredging and adding materials from the outside such as other soils and sands in order to shape the island into a ship. Shaping the island into a ship may remind people who know about the river from Pilar that used to flow down to Inabanga and boats were known to come in and out of the outlets and inlets for some time during the earlier days of Bohol. A boat will take T-Bar cable ride passengers to the starting point. Pajo had already written permission and notification to The Natural Irrigation Administration (NIA) that he plans to put such a ride over the man-made lake and wanted to know if it would cause any harm in the environment before doing so? Proceeds from the adventure ride will go to the DSWD, under the flagship program of GANA- -the KALAHI-CIDDS KKAB (Kabit Bisig Laban Sa Kahirapan). Pilar is considered fourth class economy-wise, with 21 barangays comprising of 143 puroks and is about 76 miles from Bohol 's capital, Tagbilaran City. Pilar's population is now around 27,000. The adventure ride is just one of Pajo's many projects underway, including two new swimming pools- -one for the children and the other for adults and more experienced swimmers- -which proceeds will also go to DSWD.
