A pre-school boy in Ubay town and a young rider died in separate fatal accidents last week. In Ubay town, a four-year-old boy perished after he fell into a canal while he was left on his own.
The victim was identified as one Mark Jess Monterola, a native of Barangay Gov.Boyles, Ubay.
The boy's parents were identified as Ruben and Felecidad Monterola, residents of the said barangay.
Young Mark's lifeless body was recovered Thusday morning after he fell into the canal below the diversion road the previous day.
According to Barangay Capt. Roger Reyes, the boy was declared missing in a report to the police station last July 8.
The boy was last seen playing near his parents' home about 4 pm Wednesday when he was temporarily left unattended.
It was gathered that at the time, the boy's father was working on his farm while his mother attended a seminar in neighboring Talibon town.
Investigators suspect that the boy fell into the canal while playing outside the house and drowned as a result.
This was not the first time the boy was seen alone. He had previously been observed playing by his lonesome on the clearing of the school beside their home. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old young man died after the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a Starex van. The victim was identified as one Bersan Peligro, a resident of Barangay Cabantian, Guindulman. Investigators from the Guindulman PNP learned that the incident took place about 5 pm last July 9. Peligro was driving a motorcycle along the national highway with one Niza Amoncio as his passenger.
The motorcycle crashed head-on with the van which it encountered in Barangay Canhaway. Peligro died instantly as a result of the impact while Amoncio suffered only slight injuries after she was thrown off the motorcycle. The report did not give the identity of the driver of the van. In another development, a young woman was hurt after she was hit by a motorcycle in Carmen town. The victim was identified as one Charisse Ronquillo, single and a native of Barangay Poblacion, Carmen. |
