Jap company invests in Cristal-e

A 24-million dormitory for marine scholars courtesy of a Japanese manning company will rise at the sprawling campus of Cristal-e College in barangay Tawala, Panglao island. The Japanese investment was announced during ceremonies Wednesday marking the ground-breaking of the multi-million building. Considered as another milestone by the new college, the groundbreaking ceremony will usher the construction of the K - Line Marine Ventures Ltd. dormitory at the Cristal-e College campus. The two level dormitory building will be built exclusively for the K - Line sponsored Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering scholars of Cristal e- College. A K - Line Marine Ventures Phils., Ltd. delegation from Japan and Manila came to town Wednesday to grace the occasion. The group was headed by its president Shoichi Maeda, Masami Mitsunaga, supt. The whole Cristal e- College family headed by its founders lawyer Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr., Dr. Cristeta B. Tirol, Victoriano B. Tirol, III, chairman of the Board and Will Tyron B. Tirol, president welcomed the guests. According to the Japanese guests, the event was ‘akin to a wedding” because of its importance to the solidification of the already close relationship between CeC and the Japanese company. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Rey Rodriguez, pastor of GLBT Memorial Church. In his speech, Mr. Maeda, told the audience that K –Line has slowed down their investments in the Philippines and other countries but put their money where their mouths are in Cristal e- College of Panglao . Mr. Maeda expressed his confidence that Cristal e- College can produce world-class maritime officials and engineers. The partnership which started last year has already produced around 70 marine transportation and marine engineering scholars from all over the Philippines . It should also be noted that regular maritime students of CeC have been absorbed by K – Line vessels as apprentices. By the School Year 2010 – 2011, it is expected that there will be 144 resident scholars at Cristal e- College campus aside from those who will be onboard K – Line vessels as apprentices.

First district Congressman Edgar M. Chatto with former board member Isabelito B. Tongco and representatives of Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala and Dauis Mayor Luciano Bongalos, attended the affair. Cristal e – College also offers courses in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Tourism Management, Criminology, Education, Liberal Arts and Nursing.
