News over the week that Cong. Edgar Chatto has picked his counterpart in the second district—Cong. Roberto Cajes, as his running mate, proved premature. A source who claimed to be privy to the negotiation broke the news to the Post only to be repudiated that there is nothing final yet. Just days ago, the grapevine is awash with talks that Cong. Chatto as gubernatorial timber has chosen Cajes for a running mate but it was swiftly shot down with at least two personalities familiar with on-going negotiations. As for Chatto's bid for governor, the two sources said the first district congressman has reached the point of no turning back. As to the choice of Cajes as Chatto's team mate, the two said it could bev about 70% sure but the 30% will remain a party concern. But for Cajes to run as vice governor, no less than third district ex-congressman Eladio Jala confirmed this. Jala said Cajes in one of their meetings urged him to support his bid for the second highest elective post of the province.
But Cajes is not alone in the role of supporting cast. Other contenders being considered are Board Members Concepcion Lim, Josephine Socorro Jumamoy and Tomas Abapo, Jr. With Chatto and V-Gov. Julious Ceasar Herrera bracing for a showdown, the two will have to pick from at least four probables for vice governor. The big question mark at the end of the day is whom is Bohol 's political godfather wish to anoint between-- Chatto and Herrera. As of now, Gov. Erico Aumentado, the ruling party's undisputed chieftain, is keeping his cards close to his chest. The ever clever Aumentado just refused to be dragged into a bloody spectacle of choosing his heir apparent.
