6 separate incidents in province claim lives of 8 people

Six incidents, by any mean violent, happened in Bohol the week that was, and claimed the lives of eight persons. Four of the eight fatalities, died as suicides in as many cases and in as many places. The rest died—with two each, of drowning and gun shots. Those who died of drowning were minors as they were swept away Tuesday by the rushing river flow in sitio Fatima, barangay Buenavista, Carmen town.

According to Carmen police reports, the two boys were carried by their mother in crossing the river with the belief that it was safe to do so. Apparently not knowing it is so deep, crossed they did and were washed away by rampaging floodwaters. The fatalities identified as Jundy, 5 and Edward, 2, all surnamed Casinday, were found lifeless a kilometer away from where the accident took place. They were holding hands when found dead. The other violent incident happened in Danao town when two persons were shot dead. They were identified as Joel Nuez, Jr. and Bienvinido Anedes when they were ambushed by an unidentified assailant. Personal grudge was identified as the motive of the killing. Meanwhile, a teenage girl committed suicide last week after she was advised by her parents to stay away in the meantime from love affairs. The girl’s name and address were not known in the report.

In another incident in Pres. Garcia, a man identified as Crisanto Dokdok tied a nylon rope in his neck resulting in his instant death. According to Pres. Garcia police, before he took his life by hanging, he had a heated altercation with his wife due to jealously. The other suicide incident involved a couple identified as Nilo and Monica Salceda. Police reports said the couple boarded a motorcycle enroute to the back of the Dauis church then to the sea. While there, the husband holding the head of his wife, and then pushed it under water causing her to drown. When he saw his wife lifeless, the husband then swam himself with the apparent intention of suffocation of seawater. He then floated like his wife dead. It was learned that the couple left in the wake of their death several little kids.
