Trinidad LGU to implement vermin at barangay levels

 

 

Going back to the basic.

In the most recent visit of Trinidad mayor Judith del Rosario-Cajes to barangay Sto. Tomas of Trinidad town, mayor Cajes emphasized that going back to the basics may greatly help the communities to address waste management and will even give additional source of income for the families. True to her commitment to impose Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, Mayor Cajes encouraged the barangay folks to observe segregation of garbage to begin at their household so that they can sort out recyclable items that may be sold to buyers of scrap, bottles and plastic.

Mayor Cajes committed to help contact buyers for recyclable items and scraps so that families can have additional income that may help provide for their daily needs. She pointed out that under her administration, the barangays shall soon see full-swing implementation of vermi culture so that biodegradable, specially grasses, dried leaves and rice stalks that are abundant in the barangays shall be translated into marketable organic fertilizer.

She committed to give out awards and recognitions to barangays who shall be judged as the model implementor of the barangay beautification project with composed of the vermin compost, backyard gardening of vegetables and the planting of gumamela ang malunggay. Mayor Cajes capped her statement saying that these efforts will not only benefit the families but most significantly the young generation that they may witness how their parents have participated in environmental protection and wise management of waste that translated garbage to money.
