A sexagenarian was found dead while a 59-year-old father killed himself over two separate rape incidents. The body of an elderly woman was found lifeless in Carmen town last Jan. 10 apparently a murder victim. The victim was identified as one Leliosa Logroño, 66, single, a native of Poblacion Sur, Carmen town. PO2 Anselmo Mesiona told Station DyTR that the incident took place in Barangay Buenavista. Health authorities believed that Logroño was murdered at dawn but her body was discovered about 6 am . Mesiona said the victim sustained numerous hack wounds in different parts of her body. The underwear of the victim had been removed indicating that there was an attempted rape. However, her body did not show any sign that the rape was consummated. Mesiona said there is reason to believe that the suspects had an ax to grind owing to the brutality of the killing. He said they are already eyeing two suspects but did not reveal their identities while they remain at large.

Meanwhile, a father who was suspected of raping his own daughter killed himself inside his detention cell in Bilar town. The 59-year-old resident of Barangay Dagohoy, Bilar was arrested last Jan. 8 for raping his 16-year-old daughter. Insp. Terfollano Tejada, acting Bilar PNP chief, said the victim was found dead 6 am last Jan. 10 when he was to be served his breakfast. The victim killed himself using the cord of his jacket which was strapped to the iron bars on one end and tied to his neck on the other. He carried out his suicide on the evening of Jan. 9. Prior to the suicide, the victim reportedly admitted his sin against his daughter. His despondency eventually led him to commit suicide. The victim's lifeless body was claimed by his family the same day it was discovered.
